MEIJI UNIVERSITY Law in Japan 2020

Today, we are living in an era of globalization. Throughout the world, people experience similar legal problems such as consumer, crime, employment or family problems. Despite the similarities, understanding foreign law and legal system is not easy because they are deeply rooted in their own culture and history. The Meiji University Law in Japan Program is an introductory summer short course for foreign students and graduates who are interested in studying Japanese law in its historical and cultural context. The program mainly focuses on contemporary issues and comparative perspectives in Japanese law. Participants also have a chance to enhance their learning through field trips.

This program is an excellent opportunity to gain a sound understanding of the Japanese legal system. It opens educational opportunities to beginners who do/did not major in law, but are interested and willing to learn it through this two-week summer intensive course.

Program Information

- Date: June 29 – July 10, 2020  (Mon - Fri, 10 days)

- Location: Meiji University Surugadai Campus

- Program Hours: Approximately 28 hours in total (Lectures 20 hrs, Field Trips 8 hrs)

- Language Used: English

- Number of Participants: 25

- Application Period: Jan 8 (Wed) - Feb 20 (Thu), 2020

- Program Fee: Student  89,000 yen 

                     Professional/Other 104,000 yen

Basically, program fee includes only course-related fee such as, tuition fee, travel expenses for field trips*, course materials, welcome & farewell parties, course completion certificates and registration.

*When having a field trip in the afternoon, we will break up on the spot in principle. So, the return ticket is not provided.
