IASACT 2021 - Call for Proposals (Aug 1 - Oct 31, 2021)
The whole world has been adversely affected by COVID-19 since 2020, especially the international travel is not easy now. Knowing many uncertainties and difficulties which influence the scholars’ research work, the Institute for Advanced Study in Asian Cultures and Theologies (IASACT) 2021, organized by Divinity School of Chung Chi College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and funded by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, would like to provide opportunities to scholars for carrying out an action research more efficiently and effectively which is impactful to the society despite the pandemic.
Taking the experiences of the virtual IASACT 2020, IASACT 2021 will be conducted fully online, from August to October, 2021 aiming to support scholars by creating a scholar community where scholars can work with a mentor on their transformational, collaborative, and multidisciplinary research and exchange views with other scholars despite face-to-face communication is hardly possible.
IASACT 2021 will highlight the contribution of culture, religion, and environmental education to address the crisis in Asia, and invites proposals on “The Intertwining of Culture, Religion, and Environmental Education” using action research or community-based participatory research. It is data-driven, working in equal partnership with the community, and transformational in the process and result. Scholars who are carrying out an action research or have already developed plans are eligible to apply. 10 scholars from Asian institutions will be selected.
Scholars do not need to travel to Hong Kong but should have stable access to internet connectivity for participation of the 3-month program. A modest grant of up to USD1,500 will be available to support research activities during the program period. A mentor will be assigned to provide ongoing academic advice for research and publishing throughout the program.
Deadline of application will be on June 30, 2021. Please visit HERE for online application. Please contact us if you encounter any technical difficulties.
