We
are delighted to invite you to join our “Online Certificate Course –
An Introduction to Digital Ethics”, co-organised by the Centre for
Holistic Teaching and Learning (CHTL) at HKBU and the Digital Content and
Programming division of the United Board for Christian Higher Education
in Asia. This course will commence on 7 October for
the first cohort.
This
course is designed for academics at all levels and will take around 3
months to complete. Digital Ethics is a vital topic in the context
of higher education, as it helps ensure that technology is used
responsibly and ethically to support the academic mission and promote
student learning and success.
During
the course, you will explore the common definitions of digital ethics,
examine right and wrong ethical behaviours in the higher education
context, and identify the basic principles of digital ethics related to
academic integrity, accessibility, digital well-being, security, and
privacy. The course is divided into four comprehensive modules, each
covering a key aspect of digital ethics:
1. What is Digital Ethics?
2.
Basic Data Ethics: Use & Protection
3.
Generative AI Ethics
4.
Digital Wellbeing
The
course will be delivered through the KEEP Moodle platform, providing you
with a variety of interactive features and learning activities, such as
video clips, articles, case studies, reflection tasks, quizzes, online
discussion forums, and livestream sessions.
We

who complete over 80% of the course activities together with the final
reflection task will receive a certificate of completion.
